Fuss-free DIY granola with KoRo
It's quick to prepare, nutritious and filling: granola is the perfect breakfast for those who prefer a simple bowl early in the morning, and those more leisurely breakfast connoisseurs alike. However, many ready-made mixes can have a lot of added refined sugar or include that one ingredient that can ruin the dream breakfast bowl (raisins, I’m looking at you). The solution: make your own granola! Simply choose your own ingredients, add your preferred sweetener and enjoy.
The base
The base of the granola doesn't have to be anything special, but those who want it gluten-free or a little fancier will also find alternatives to the usual oats at KoRo:
Organic big leaf oats | Organic rolled spelt | Organic puffed amaranth | Organic rolled Socas
The crunch
Add in nuts and seeds to give the granola extra crunch and, whilst you’re at it, a great source of fibre, too.
KoRo premium nut mix | Extra large hazelnuts | Organic pine nutsPremium cashew nuts | Pecan nut pieces | Organic sunflower seeds
The showstoppers
A basic granola is perfectly fine, but why not try something new and go for unusual ingredients? Put the sultanas on the back seat!
Freeze-dried red currents | Blueberries sweetened with apple juiceOrganic coconut chips with no added sugar | Organic fair trade mango strips
Passion fruit cubes without additives
The glue
To keep the granola crunchy (without becoming dry!) and so the base can combine with the other ingredients, a mixture of sweetener and oil is ideal. Simply mix agave syrup, honey or vegan honey alternative with rapeseed or coconut oil (it's easier if both are warmed) and season with a pinch of cinnamon and salt. Mix the base, nuts and toppings with the "glue" and bake for 20 to 30 minutes (depending on the ingredients) at 180 degrees (convection oven).
