Press release: Dachser adds new Neumünster location to its network

Dachser has opened a new branch in Neumünster, Germany. Operations in the logistics center’s transit terminal began on August 31 and have since been gradually expanded. In early October, it began handling refrigerated food. Dachser invested some EUR 17.4 million in the new location, which serves large parts of the Schleswig-Holstein region.

It took less than a year to complete the 7,000 m2 logistics terminal located on Isarstrasse in Neumünster’s Industriegebiet Süd industrial estate. Of this area, 5,000 m2 is dedicated to handling industrial goods, while 2,000 m2 is refrigerated for food logistics. The terminal has 76 docking gates for trucks, and a further 60 spaces are available for trucks to park on the 57,000 m2 site. Adjacent to the logistics center is a building offering 1,300 m2 of office space. Dachser’s new location employs a total of 40 people.

“Our new branch in Neumünster is one of the most advanced logistics facilities in our network,” says Alexander Tonn, Dachser’s Managing Director European Logistics Germany. “It’s ideally positioned to connect the center and north of Schleswig-Holstein to our efficient pan-European transport network. Our customers in the region benefit from fast transit times and the usual high quality of handling.” Thanks to its convenient location on the B205 highway, which provides direct access to the A7 freeway, the new Neumünster branch has excellent transport links. Collection and delivery within Germany is possible with a 24-hour turnaround time.

Digitalization was a priority for Dachser when setting up the new facility. Truck access is fully automated and works on the basis of license plate recognition. Yard and ramp control is digital, with tablets and handheld devices used to support transit terminal operations. In addition, there are digital information boards and touch screens to provide truck drivers with information. “Digital technologies have formed an integral part of operations at the branch right from the outset to ensure that logistics processes run as smoothly and efficiently as possible,” explains Jan-Ferdinand Lühmann, Operations Manager at Dachser in Neumünster. “This modern work environment benefits our customers, employees, and partners alike.”
