Neue Einrichtung für Elternappartments im Kinderhospiz Sonnenhof: Aroundtown Foundation spendet an Björn Schulz Stiftung in Berlin
Die Aroundtown Foundation unterstützt das Kinderhospiz Sonnenhof in Berlin finanziell. Die stationäre Einrichtung ist ein Ort für Familien mit unheilbar kranken Kindern, Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen. Dort können die Betroffenen leben, sich wohlfühlen und es gibt die Möglichkeit, Abschied zu nehmen.
Der Sonnenhof bietet neben den 12 Betten auch fünf Familienappartements für Eltern und Geschwister. Diese Möglichkeit stellt sicher, dass Familien in der Nähe bleiben können. Die Unterstützung der Aroundtown Foundation kommt gezielt an: Sie dient der Anschaffung von neuen Matratzen, Matratzenschonern, Lattenrosten und Schlafsofas in den Familienappartements.
„Vielen Dank für die Unterstützung der Aroundtown Foundation. Die Erneuerung unserer Elternappartements hat begonnen und wir werden die Zimmer nach und nach renovieren und aufhübschen,“ resümiert Claudia Thomas von der Björn Schulz Stiftung. Seit mehr als 20 Jahren entlastet und unterstützt die Björn Schulz Stiftung Familien mit lebensverkürzend erkrankten Kindern, Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen. Im Gegensatz zur Hospizarbeit für Erwachsene, die in der letzten Lebensphase beginnt, setzt die Kinderhospizarbeit bereits mit der Diagnosestellung ein. Im Sonnenhof werden Kinder und Familien von palliativmedizinisch geschulten Fachkräften betreut.

New furnishings for parents' apartments at Sonnenhof children's hospice: Aroundtown Foundation donates to Björn Schulz Foundation in Berlin
The Aroundtown Foundation is providing financial support to the Sonnenhof children's hospice in Berlin. The inpatient facility is a place for families with terminally ill children, teenagers and young adults. Those affected can live there, feel comfortable and there is the possibility to say goodbye.
In addition to the twelve beds, the Sonnenhof also offers five family apartments for parents and siblings. This option ensures that families can stay close by. The Aroundtown Foundation's support is targeted to purchase new mattresses, mattress protectors, slatted frames and sofa beds in the family apartments.
"Thank you so much for the Aroundtown Foundation's support. The renovation of our parent apartments has begun and we will gradually refurbish and upgrade the rooms," sums up Claudia Thomas of the Björn Schulz Foundation. For more than 20 years, the Björn Schulz Foundation has been providing relief and support to families with children, adolescents and young adults suffering from life-shortening illnesses. In contrast to hospice work for adults, which begins in the last phase of life, children's hospice work already begins with the diagnosis. At Sonnenhof, children and families are cared for by professionals trained in palliative medicine.
