Over 50% of office portfolio in the Netherlands have been awarded with leading BREEAM certification for sustainability

As Europe's third-largest listed real estate company, Aroundtown also continues to take responsibility in the area of sustainability, making long-term, sustainable investments in its properties to make them more energy-efficient, more sustainable and more marketable.

After the successful pilot project, which Aroundtown launched in 2021, ca. 30% of its office portfolio in the Netherlands were certified with a BREEAM In Use Part Asset (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) sustainability certification.

Aroundtown continued to utilize its knowledge and managed to get over 50% of the office portfolio in the Netherlands in 2022 certified and is aiming to get the entire office portfolio in the Netherlands certified. Aroundtown also started to apply the gained knowledge to its other locations.

BREEAM is one of the leading certification programs in Europe and is used in over 74 countries. It is adapted to local market practices and country-specific regulations so that the accreditation meets the most current market requirements in each case. The assessment is broken down into eight categories so that a comprehensive approach to sustainability is reviewed and ensured.

Aroundtown has set a target to reduce 40% of its CO₂emissions by 2030. Aroundtown ensures reliable monitoring of energy performance in its properties and continually drives further improvements in this area, including a three-step process aligned with the World Green Building Council's Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment for operational carbon emissions. This includes reducing and optimizing energy demand, identifying opportunities for on-site renewable energy generation, and meeting the remaining energy demand through off-site renewable energy.

Mehr als die Hälfte des Office-Portfolios in den Niederlanden ist mit der führenden BREEAM-Zertifizierung für Nachhaltigkeit ausgezeichnet
