NEW YORK, NY – October 4, 2012 — The Swedish-American company Plantagon was awarded the 2012 SACC New York-Deloitte Green Award for their breakthrough “green” innovation within the food chain, the Plantagon Vertical Greenhouse for urban agriculture. The award was presented by H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at a Royal Gala Award Dinner on October 3 in New York. Representing Plantagon were CEO Mr. Hans Hassle and Chairman Professor Oren R. Lyons.

The SACC New York-Deloitte Green Award is annually presented to a Swedish company with a breakthrough “green” invention or technology within the food chain. The prestigious award is valued at $25,000.

"I am extremely touched and honored that Plantagon has been acknowledged by the SACC New York-Deloitte Green Award. It is also fantastic that a small company like Plantagon not only has become leader in a new field like Urban Agriculture, but also can serve as a model for sustainable business and leadership”, says Hans Hassle, Plantagon CEO.

The Royal Award Gala Dinner was preceded by The SACC New York 2012 Green Summit From Farm to Fork. H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is the Patron of the Green Summit and attended the event with H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden and H.R.H. Princess Madeleine of Sweden. The Royal Gala Award Dinner was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel near Central Park.

Plantagon International is awarded the Green Award in recognition of their vertical, space-efficient greenhouse solution for urban areas. Their automated greenhouses are more profitable and have crop yields of 4 to 120 times more per ground area used than traditional greenhouses.

“We believe that the Plantagon Greenhouse will dramatically change the way we see and produce ecological food. Urban Agriculture is the solution to the increasing food demand in the mega cities of the future", says Hans Hassle, Plantagon CEO.
