Recycling program raises funds for children’s hospital
Chr. Hansen Argentina in local initiative supporting main Latin American hospital for the diagnostics and treatment of complex child diseases.
A large scale Argentinian recycling program supports the “Foundation Hospital de Pediatría Prof. Dr. Juan P. Garrahan”. The program focuses on recycling paper and plastic cups, transforming waste material into new products thereby raising funds for the hospital.
Chr. Hansen Argentina has been part of the program for the past four years and now expands its efforts to include recycling of old keys as well, supporting a new initiative from the hospital foundation.
“Each piece of paper saved is a love gesture”
“We have placed container boxes at strategic places in the office, close to printers, copiers and common areas inviting colleagues to donate the paper or plastic cups instead of throwing them to the garbage,” says Laura B. Heller, Marketing Analyst, Chr. Hansen Argentina.
“As the hospital says, each piece of paper or plastic cup we save is a love gesture. Only recently we went to the annual meeting at the hospital and after seeing for ourselves the rough reality that these kids face without losing their spirit, our will to keep on participating in this program is stronger than ever!”
Dr. Matera, President of the Garrahan Hospital Foundation, comments: “Thanks to the community’s participation, the recycling program contributes to the foundation’s mission: encourage all aspects of development of the hospital. Besides the social and economic benefit the program also has an environmentally responsible edge which helps raise awareness about protecting the earth.”
