Probiotic prize winner
Chr. Hansen wins a “2012 Beverage Innovation Functional Drinks Award” for its ‘L. casei 431® Juice’, a probiotic with clinically documented immune health benefits and outstanding performance in a variety of fruit beverages.
A panel of judges selected ‘L. casei 431® Juice’ ahead of the pack in the “Best new functional ingredient concept” category. According to the judges, “L. casei 431 Juice from Chr. Hansen is a well thought out concept, backed with solid scientific claims.”
Positive customer feedback
After proudly accepting the prize Chr. Hansen’s Marie Brenoee, Global Marketing Manager, Probiotic Cultures, said: “I am honored to be receiving this accolade on behalf of Chr. Hansen. It confirms the initial feedback from juice and beverage producers who have enquired about the concept: This is a truly remarkable innovation - the probiotic fruit beverage category’s “proof of concept” because of the probiotic’s ability to survive in fruit beverages throughout the product’s shelf life.”
“I foresee that this award will cause even more interest from the international beverage industry which has been glancing at the sweeping success of probiotic yoghurt. Fruit beverage producers too wish to “add the good life to juice”, as we say. Now they have the opportunity to do so with an award-winning probiotic,” Marie Brenoee said with a smile on her face.
Strong survival and documented health benefits
‘L. casei 431® Juice’ is a probiotic developed to survive in low pH environments such as chilled fruit beverages. ‘L. casei 431® Juice’ contains Lactobacillus paracasei 431®. Further, ‘L. casei 431® Juice’can survive in many types of fruit beverage types and has no side effects in the beverage such as unpleasant off-flavor or gas formation.
