Digestive Disease Week 2011: Probiotic strains vs. species

The gastrointestinal medical professionals attending this year’s Digestive Disease Week in Chicago, USA on May 7-10 will be able to learn more about the important role of “friendly bacteria” in the human gut.

“We are looking forward to participating at Digestive Disease Week 2011 (DDW) which represents a great opportunity for broadening the knowledge of probiotics within the gastrointestinal medical community. With more than 15,000 participants from the US and the rest of the world, DDW is the world's largest gathering of physicians and researchers within gut health. In other words, the perfect setting for emphasizing the health benefits of probiotics,” says Kristin Gross, Strategic Sales Manager, Chr. Hansen’s Health & Nutrition Division.

“Our main focus at the event is to educate the visitors on “probiotic strains vs. species”. During the event we will utilize various tools to explain the following scientific fact: that only documented probiotic strains exhibit credible health benefits on the human body,” adds Marketing Manager Charlotte Beyerholm.

As a sponsor of the event Chr. Hansen will be hosting the May 8 breakfast break at 10am. Here attendees have the chance to talk to our probiotic experts while trying a probiotic sample with their morning coffee.

‘Microwarriors’ videos

Right in time for DDW, Chr. Hansen is launching three 3-minute videos about probiotics – all adopted from the new Chr. Hansen-sponsored TV documentary “Microwarriors: The Power of Probiotics”, which is the most comprehensive documentary dedicated to probiotics ever produced. The videos which are available on Chr. Hansen’s website focus on the following themes:

  • What are probiotics?
  • Benefits of probiotics
  • Fermented milks and probiotics

“We have made these short videos acknowledging that some members of the target audience may not have spent 50 minutes watching the original TV documentary,” says Charlotte Beyerholm. “Furthermore, we have utilized our sponsor rights to combine clips from the orginal documentary with add ins from our own archives to give a stronger Chr. Hansen point.”
