Luxury European Car Manufacturer Partners with CabinAir to Launch Active Air Quality Solution

A major European luxury car manufacturer known for its vehicles’ innovation, precision engineering, advanced technology, and high performance, will integrate CabinAir's Active Air Quality solution globally in large numbers of its cars by the end of 2025. The move extends the company’s commitment to providing premium driving experience with additional focus on in-cabin air quality.

"There is a trend in the automotive industry towards taking in-cabin air quality more and more seriously,” says Daniel Hagström, CabinAir CEO and co-founder. “We are very proud to have been chosen to be a volume supplier to one of the top marques in the industry. It's proof that we are doing things right, both for the car-driving population and from a business and technology perspective."

Hagström explains that CabinAir's Active Air Quality solution is based on patented two-stage technology that makes pollution particles more "sticky" so they can be trapped by the air filter more efficiently. This technology is up to 15 times more effective than standard filters at removing harmful ultra-fine particles.

Tests carried out by Guangzhou Institute of Microbiology show that the solution also removes 99.97% of airborne viruses and bacteria similar to SARS-CoV-2 in size.

Since the solution achieves these results by cleaning the air in a single pass before it enters the cabin, drivers can enjoy a constant flow of fresh, healthy air. This is a big difference from traditional systems, which need to recirculate the air within the cabin to reach acceptably low levels of particulates.

As the air is recirculated, oxygen levels in the car decrease, and CO2 levels increase, which can cause the driver to become drowsy and react more slowly. This means that CabinAir's technology can contribute to reducing traffic accidents by helping to keep drivers more alert.

More vehicles globally, promoting safer, healthier cabins

For several years, CabinAir technology has been on the road in Volvo Cars, some of the world's most highly rated vehicles in terms of driver and passenger health and safety. It is an integral part of Volvo Cars' and Polestar's Advanced Air Cleaner (AAC) systems. With a new OEM contract signed, even more drivers and passengers will be able to breathe healthier air inside their vehicles.

Recognized Innovation

In January 2022, CabinAir was named a CES®2022 Innovation Awards Honoree for its Connected Health Zone System, which consists of CabinAir Active Air Quality solutions, combined with best-in-class sensors and AI processed air quality data that can display air quality to guide drivers to healthy in-cabin air quality under varying traffic conditions.
