Rare Bracelet from the “King of Diamonds” Harry Winston

For the first time ever, Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers in Copenhagen offers an exclusive diamond bracelet from the legendary American jeweller Harry Winston. The bracelet was designed by Francois Tavernier in 1965 and is estimated at a price of DKK 400,000-500,000 / € 54,000-67,500.

"We are pleased to announce that we for the first time in the history of the auction house can offer a piece of jewellery from Harry Winston. The diamond bracelet, which is the epitome of Harry Winston's classic elegance and style, is made of platinum and adorned with numerous emerald-cut diamonds of approximately 22.27 carats. It was made by the French jewellery designer Francois Tavernier in 1965 and was originally purchased at Harry Winston on 5th Avenue in New York, "says Katrin Mikkelsen Sørensen, jewellery specialist at Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers.

The House of Harry Winston was founded in New York in 1932 by the gemmologist Harry Winston. He quickly became known as the "King of Diamonds" and "Jeweller to the Stars", and he is the man behind some of the world's most famous gems. His jewellery store has designed jewellery for famous people and royalty for decades, and he was the first in the world to lend diamonds to an award-winning actress at the Academy Awards in 1944, where Jennifer Jones wore his jewellery while accepting her Oscar. He also donated the large blue 45.52 carats Hope Diamond to The Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC in 1958, thereby contributing to the establishment of the museum's "National Gem Collection".

In 1966, Harry Winston cut the legendary Taylor-Burton diamond of 68 carats, and the jeweller has for many decades delivered diamonds to numerous films, including "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" (1953), where Marilyn Monroe mentions Harry Winston in her famous song "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend". In recent years, the House of Harry Winston has kept up with this tradition and contributed diamonds to the movie "Maid in Manhattan" (2002) and the TV series "Sex and the City" (1998-2002).

It all started on 6 October 1948, when Arne Bruun Rasmussen conducted the first traditional auction in the saleroom at Bredgade 33 in Copenhagen. Today, Jesper Bruun Rasmussen stands at the helm of the family-run business together with the third generation of the family, his son Frederik and daughter Alexa, and the company’s CEO Jakob Dupont.

In 2004, the first online auction was launched, and today the auction house has expanded to include departments in Copenhagen and Aarhus and representations in Sweden, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, Italy, Thailand and the US. About 100,000 lots are put up for auction each year at the traditional auctions and daily online auctions. Here you can bid on everything from art, antiques, modern design and jewellery to books, coins, stamps, wine and weaponry.
