Catwalk in the Auction House

In connection with Copenhagen Fashion Week, a bridge was established between the art and fashion world as Baum und Pferdgarten presented their new collection in our beautiful saleroom.

Co-branding and collaboration between different industries is an ever-increasing trend of our times. At Bruun Rasmussen we see great opportunities in building bridges between the art and fashion world. Therefore, for the second year in a row, we helped set the stage as the largest names of the Danish and international fashion world met Thursday during the Copenhagen Fashion Week for the presentation of the designer duo Baum und Pferdgarten’s new SS19 collection entitled "A Poetic Friendship". About 300 people attended the magnificent show in the saleroom in central Copenhagen, where the latest fashion clothes were presented side by side with Rococo portraits, designer furniture and contemporary art from our upcoming international auction.

"We are pleased that the setting of Baum und Pferdgarten’s show in our historical interior builds a bridge between the worlds of art and fashion. I am particularly fond of the passion and the attention to detail, colours and quality that Baum und Pferdgarten give their work. When art and fashion meet you gain a new perspective on both, which is incredibly inspiring and enriching," says Alexa Bruun Rasmussen, who is Head of our brand development.

At Baum und Pferdgarten, there was also great enthusiasm in connection with the catwalk in the auction house:

"For us, fashion is more than just clothes. It is art, it is culture and it is a part of the contemporary times. That's why it makes perfect sense for us to team up with one of the biggest players on the art scene here in Copenhagen. Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers is just the right setting for our story, and we look forward to inviting people into this world," says the two creative directors Helle Hestehave and Rikke Baumgarten.

Jewellery Event with The Jewellery Room

The following day, we participated in another of Copenhagen Fashion Week's events, where we presented a number of exclusive vintage jewellery pieces from our upcoming international auctions at Matrikel 1 in Copenhagen. The location functions as a form of creative network for newly established companies and innovative events. On this particular day, it was The Jewellery Room that opened its doors for a large jewellery exhibition, where leading Scandinavian jewellery designers could show off their collections for the many invited guests.

This is the second time that we collaborate with The Jewellery Room, and the event was once again a big success. It is our goal that the fashion show and jewellery exhibition will pave the way for even more events of this nature where art and fashion can meet. Already in February, The Jewellery Room will be a guest in our saleroom with another large jewellery exhibition.

Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers is one of Scandinavia’s leading international auction houses, and one of Denmark’s oldest. It all started on 6 October 1948, when Arne Bruun Rasmussen conducted the first traditional auction in the saleroom at Bredgade 33 in Copenhagen. Today, Jesper Bruun Rasmussen stands at the helm of the family-run business together with the third generation of the family, his son Frederik and daughter Alexa, and the company’s CEO Jakob Dupont.

In 2004, the first online auction was launched, and today the auction house has expanded to include departments in Copenhagen and Aarhus and representations in Sweden, Germany, England, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Spain, Italy, Thailand and the US. About 100,000 lots are put up for auction each year at the traditional auctions and daily online auctions. Here you can bid on everything from art, antiques, modern design and jewellery to books, coins, stamps, wine and weaponry.

Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers

Bruun Rasmussen has since 1948 sold art, design, jewellery, wristwatches, antiques and collectibles such as wine, books, coins and stamps. As the leading auction house in Denmark, we sell over 75,000 items every year at our Online Auctions at bruun-rasmussen.dk and at Live Auctions at the auction house in Lyngby.

Our specialists are the most experienced and competent in the industry. The work in the auction house places great demands on our knowledge of art and trends on the market. This way, we can provide valuations and advice of the highest quality – which has become our trademark – and thereby offer the best lots from all categories and achieve high hammer prices for the benefit of our customers.

At Bruun Rasmussen, we are one of Europe's most modern and digital auction houses, and it is only natural for us to adapt to changes in the market. Innovation is part of our DNA, while we are also deeply rooted in our history.

In 2022, after having been family-owned through three generations, we became part of the international “Bonhams Network”, expanding our global reach and access to specialists all over the world. We strategically present and sell art where it makes the most sense in relation to potential buyers.
