Example of one of BookBeat's campaigns on the German market during the third quarter

Press release -

BookBeat’s paying users grew by 47% in the third quarter of 2021

BookBeat’s revenue has during the first three quarters of the year increased by 39% in relation to the same period of 2020. The number of paying users was by the end of the third quarter 47% higher compared to the same time in 2020.

- The growth this summer is similar to what we saw before the pandemic where the summer season has been the annual peak for audiobooks since we launched in 2016. It showed even more clearly in July this year when we had the highest intake of new trial users ever at BookBeat. We are now aiming at a really strong end to this year to make us reach our target of 600 000 paying users around new year’s, says Niclas Sandin, CEO BookBeat.

By the end of the quarter, BookBeat did a study of their users’ behavioral patterns to identify if there has been a change during the pandemic. The study, which included hundreds of thousands of users’ consumption data during a normal week, showed that the behaviors in many ways are the same as before the pandemic, for example, the listening during the morning commute has gone back to normal levels.

- The growth we have seen since our broad launch in the summer of 2016 does not seem to have been affected by the pandemic. We saw a strong growth before the pandemic, we saw a strong growth during the pandemic, and we now continue to see a strong growth when society is starting to open up by the end of this pandemic. The analysis of our users’ behavior shows that audiobooks are here to stay, as they have found a natural and permanent place in people’s everyday life.
