The HISTORY Channel Highlights April 2021

HITLER’S SECRET SEX LIFE

Thursdays from 8 April at 20:30

Hitler’s Secret Sex Life peels back the facade built around the 20th century's most notorious man and reveals a leader wracked by health issues, insecurities, incest, sexual hang ups, fetishes, and drug addiction. Here was a man leading the world to war and responsible for the most heinous atrocities while at the same time-consuming methamphetamines and cocaine, and a pick-me-up cocktail containing bull semen.

His relationships were fractured - at least one of his lovers committed suicide, while the only woman he ever professed love for was his half-sister’s daughter (who also committed suicide). He was a chronic masturbator, farted uncontrollably, and enjoyed sexual fetishes … and the schoolboy taunt that he only had one testicle appears likely to be true. (4x60”)

ASSEMBLY REQUIRED WITH TIM ALLEN

Wednesdays from 21 April at 21:25

Today, it feels like most people choose one of two options when something they own breaks down. They either throw it away and replace it with a newer model or they call someone else in to fix it. There used to be a third option. What happened to rolling up your sleeves and restoring it on your own? Tim Allen and Richard Karn, the hosts from Tool Time, are finishing the mission they started years ago on Home Improvement. The two are inviting those builders and makers with the how-to spirit - and the determination to restore rather than replace - into their hardware arena. The arena dominated by never-ending aisles filled with massive shelves of supplies is the perfect proving grounds for Tim and Richard to test the ingenuity and ability of the competitors to return items to their original state and then make them bigger, louder and more powerful. HITLER’S STEEL BEAST

Thursday 8 April at 21:25

At the end of the 1930s, Hitler ordered the construction of a special train that could transport him around safely and appease his growing paranoia. A veritable fortress on rails, this armored fifteen-carriage convoy served as his mobile headquarters, and was where he met privately with Pétain, Franco and Mussolini. It was also the target of numerous assassination plots by the British secret service.

Equipped with the most advanced communication facilities and a battery of anti-aircraft cannons, its construction called for a team of the biggest names in engineering, while the luxurious interior of each coach was designed by the Führer himself. (1x60”)

Kill Hitler: The Luck of The Devil - Thursday 15 April at 21:25

On April 30th, 1945, Hitler committed suicide in his bunker in Berlin. On that day, he managed to do what many others had tried to do for 20 years but failed. Between 1921 and 1944, no fewer than 30 attacks were launched against the Führer. The film explores how Hitler survived all these attempts on his life, and how the fate of Europe and countless lives may have been very different if it hadn't been for the luck of the devil. (1x60”)

22 June 1940: The Sound of Surrender - Thursday 22 April at 21:25

The Armistice of 22 June 1940 like you’ve never heard it before. We revisit the story of how France ended up in this critical situation and provide an intimate understanding of the significance of this disastrous day in history. (1x60”)

Swamp Ghost - Thursday 29 April at 21:25

On 23rd February 1942, after America’s first heavy bomber raid of WWII, a bullet-riddled U.S B-17E bomber crash landed in a remote swamp in Papua New Guinea. The crew of nine survived, and over the next six weeks, battled malaria and heat exhaustion to make their way to safety. But the flying fortress was left for lost for decades. It wasn’t until 1972, that Australian soldiers spotted the partially submerged aircraft from a helicopter, and gave it the name, The Swamp Ghost. (1x60”)

THE PROOF IS OUT THERE

Fridays from 16 April at 21:25

The Proof Is Out There investigates the world’s most mysterious videos, photos, and audio recordings, and uses the best technology and experts to render a credible verdict. Each episode analyzes and passes verdicts on several seemingly impossible things caught on film, including giant beasts, UFOS, apocalyptic sounds, hairy humans, alleged mutants from the deep, conspiracies, and many other cases. Host and veteran journalist Tony Harris takes nothing for granted in a quest for answers, tracking down eyewitnesses, putting each photo or film through a battery of tests, calling out the hoaxes, and highlighting the most credible evidence in an attempt to better understand our world.
