We proudly present our collaboration with HERNIK, a leading specialist in children’s rehab technology. Together with HERNIK, the Axkid Minikid 4 has been transformed into an adaptable seat for all children’s needs, to ensure every physically disabled child can travel safely in the car. With Minikid 4 as the foundation, the HERO-XL offers up to 30 cm legroom, dynamic headrest technology, and easy seat-belt installation. Apart from the safety benefits of an Axkid seat, the HERO-XL can be adapted to the child’s individual needs using the supportive parts, that can be used together or individually, to assure the child is in the correct position, and safe in the seat. Who is HERNIK? “We are specialist for children’s rehab technology. Our goal is to find individual transport solutions for every disabled child. That’s why each seat is individually configured and then manufactured and shipped by us in Rosenheim (Germany).
As our child car seats are only intended for children with disabilities, they are considered medical products. To ensure safety, we comply with the Medical Devices Act, are ISO 9001 certified and each new product is ECE R129 approved. In this way we want to ensure that every disabled child can have a car seat that specifically fulfils their needs and meets the highest safety standards.”
In addition to child car seats, HERNIK also produces customised head protection helmets and seat shells to find individual solutions for every disabled child.
The collaboration
Our mission as innovators within child safety is to make more children travel safely, and it aligns well with HERNIK’s mission to ensure every physically disabled child travels safely in the car. The Minikid 4 was found a suitable platform thanks to its known extended rear-facing capabilities, approved according to the newest R129 regulation, plus tested, and allowing rear-facing up to 7 years of age. Our collaboration makes the benefits of extended rear-facing safety available to more children.
The world’s first homologated (approved) rehab seat
The HERO-XL, secured in the vehicle using the car´s seat belt, allows rearward travel up to 125 cm and 36 kg. It stands as the only rear-facing rehab car seat with full European approval in accordance with R129. The integrated 5-point harness and dynamic headrest adjustment add an extra layer of safety, providing maximum protection in the event of an accident.

The HERO-XL offers various accessories to tailor the car seat to the unique needs of each child. From abduction blocks to seat depth adapters and security trays, HERNIK ensures that children with weak trunk control receive the support they need for a safe and comfortable journey.
