Press release -
World premiere at Drammen Public Library for Axiell’s digital-first Library Services Platform
Lund, Sweden, September 19th 2017 – Axiell, the leading vendor to libraries in Europe, today announces that Drammen Public Library in Norway has gone live with Axiell Quria®, the company’s new cloud-based, digital-first Library Services Platform. The platform makes daily work routines more efficient, completely revamps how staff are guided by workflows and how search is done in the catalogue and removes all barriers between physical and digital assets. In addition, the cloud-based platform will dramatically reduce the lifetime cost while also being able to reduce the time it takes for launching additional functionality, for continuous improvement of the library service.
Drammen has also launched a new website based on Axiell Arena. This site will offer customers innovative ways to engage with the information in the catalogue as well as being able to add their own information to enrich the catalogue.
Drammen County is a leader in digitization in Norway and Axiell Quria®was selected since it will enable them to deliver on their vision of creating the library of the future – a library which leverages cost-efficient technology, is always open and accessible, encourages reading and improves engagement with citizens.
“Digitization is an important tool to be able to deliver relevant services to current and future users of the library. Our new library platform makes it possible to provide library services in completely new ways. Customers will first and foremost notice that the touchpoints where they search and gather information for books and media are very user friendly and it will be easier to use self-service, both in the library and online. Together with Axiell, we are setting new standards for the library world”, says Monica Nyhus, Library Manager at Drammen.
The platform enables the cost-efficient management of all services in the library through modern standards (RDA and FRBR) – from books to information, learning and entertainment. All assets and workflows are accessible via the web based interface: the physical collection, community events, handling of e-media and engaging and managing the complete communication process with patrons.
“The day of go live for Drammen was a milestone for Axiell. We are proud to deliver a solution which will enable them to meet the demands of patrons today and tomorrow. Axiell Quria®is ideal for modern libraries which need to manage many types of assets that are now often part of the library – from scanned documents, to e-media and other digital resources. The platform supports the transformation of the library, at the pace that they want to evolve.” says Joel Sommerfeldt, President & CEO of Axiell Group.
