Auctionet Announces Significant Investment From Alfvén & Didrikson
Auctionet, the leading Nordic marketplace for continuous online auctions, is proud to announce a significant growth investment from the investment company Alfvén & Didrikson. The investment will be used to fuel further growth to enable Auctionet to achieve its ambitious vision to become the leading European auction marketplace and the number one partner to local auction houses and auction buyers alike.
As the circular economy grows the demand for vintage goods is increasing. At the same time, traditional local auction houses increasingly need to offer their customers a competitive and seamless user experience to ensure the best possible auction results. Auctionet has become a highly appreciated partner to local auction houses by enabling them to reach a global market. The platform also helps auction houses streamline their operations and facilitate everything from categorisation, seamless payments and efficient transportation. Today, Auctionet has more than 75 auction houses as platform partners and reaches more than 900,000 potential buyers from 180 countries.
Alfvén & Didrikson has invested SEK 75m in Auctionet to become the company’s largest shareholder. Founder and CEO Niklas Söderholm remain as one of the largest shareholders. This investment reinforces Alfvén & Didrikson’s commitment to backing growth companies with a clear purpose.
“We are excited to be able to accelerate our plan to help European auction houses the same way we have transformed the Swedish auction industry. This will grow the marketplace Auctionet.com with more exciting antiques and design items which will benefit all our committed customers. Alfvén & Didrikson has invested in many successful companies and has a long-term investment horizon, which makes them a perfect fit for our future growth”, comments Niklas Söderholm, Founder and CEO at Auctionet.
“We have been very impressed by the Auctionet team and the robust, scalable and user-friendly platform that they have built. Together with a strong customer focus and a deep understanding of what local auction houses need to be successful online, this has earned them a unique position on the Swedish market. There is now a significant potential for Auctionet to expand further in Europe. Alfvén & Didrikson’s experience from working with other marketplace companies like Offerta and Humly and learnings from international expansion with companies like Trustly, Quinyx and Acast, will help Auctionet to achieve this expansion even faster going forward.” says Therese Östansjö Moberg, Investment Manager at Alfvén & Didrikson.
