Vive Le Rock premieres music video for Statues new single ”The Salt”
Swedish alt. rock band Statues are back with a new release. Their album ”Holocene” will be released on Lövely Records during autumn 2020. The first single from the album, ”The Salt”, is set for release June 12. The single is released together with a music video that is available to watch now though UK based Vive Le Rock.
Statues are back with a new album. ”Holocene” is the first release from the band since their debut ”Adult Lobotomy”, released on German label Crazysane Records in 2018. The debut sold out in no time, and received praise by critics as well as punk legend Walter Schreifels (Quicksand, Rival Schools, Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits) who claimed;
”In music it’s a rare balance to successfully blend politics and fun, aggression with melody. Drawing on some of my fave post-punk influences and classic rock grooves, Statues debut Adult Lobotomy walks a line like Phillippe Petit across the sky between Twin Towers, gracefully subversive.”
Keeping the ball rolling, Statues will release their second album “Holocene” on Lövely Records this autumn. For the album, the band wrote over 40 songs. All of them were short, fast, and extremely intense. The band recorded 13 of these in just three hours. It was the first time in the history for Sandås Silence Studio to repay a band for pre-booked studio time.
The first single of the release is ”The Salt”, an intense alt. rock outburst of sweet melodies with just the right amount of melancholic undertones, clocking in at just over 2 minutes. Johan Sellman (guitars/Vocals) explains the song;
”The Salt is about environment anxiety and the apocalypse. The lyrics play around with old ways of reading the future. Prophetic birds, tea leaves, swarm flights and reading the future in tea leaves and salt. And now there's all of a sudden a pandemic at our doorstep. Someone told us to be cateful, we didn't listen.”
The Salt single and music video will be released on June 12 and is available to enjoy exclusively at Vive Le Rock now.
