Gothenburg, Sweden will host FEI European Championships 2017
The FEI announced on Tuesday afternoon that the FEI European Championships Jumping, Dressage, Four-in-Hand and Para-Dressage have been allocated to Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2017.
- It gives us great pleasure to be able to welcome Europe´s top riders and drivers to Gothenburg, and we are glad for the confidence as organizers the FEI has given, says Anders Mellberg, President for the Swedish Equestrian Federation.
Gothenburg has a long standing reputation as an organizer in the Equestrian world. Gothenburg Horse Show has been host to numerous FEI World Cup Qualifiers and FEI World Cup Finals in both Jumping and Dressage for over thirty years. These have been indoor occasions at the Scandinavium Arena, in 2017 the competitions will move outdoors, in to the city.
- Ullevi Stadium will be the main arena and it will exciting to see the top riders in a venue that over the years has hosted track and field, soccer and Bruce Springsteen. The FEI European Championships will be noticeable on more than one arena in the city centre and even the marathon for the four in hand drivers will be within walking distance, says Johan Pagerup, COO at Got Event.
Hundreds of riders, drivers and horses are expected to the FEI European Championships.
- Gothenburg is no stranger to huge events and at these times the whole city is part of the arena. That is what makes us unique as an event city, says Max Markusson, Event Director at Göteborg & CO.
Gothenburg is looking forward to welcoming the European Equestrian world to the city in 2017.
