Red Bull becomes a member of the Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industry

On 25 March 2014, the Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industry’s Board of Directors approved Red Bull Finland Oy as a new member. The Federation last accepted new members in autumn 2013, when Captol Invest Oy and Saimaan Juomatehdas Oy joined the Federation. In addition to Red Bull, the other members of the Federation are Captol Invest Oy, Oy Hartwall Ab, Nokian Panimo Oy, Olvi Oyj, Saimaan Juomatehdas Oy and Oy Sinebrychoff Ab.

The pressures and stricter regulation faced by the brewing and soft drinks industry have led to closer cooperation between its companies and organisations. The tax on soft drinks has been increased three times since 2011. In just over three years, the tax on soft drinks containing over 0.5% sugar has quintupled, while that on sugar-free soft drinks has more than doubled.

The Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industrypromotes the interests of producers of beer, cider, long drinks, soft drinks and mineral waters in Finland. Importers can also join as associated members. The brewing and soft drinks industry is one of the most important industries in the food and drink branch. In 2011, about EUR 1.3 billion in tax revenue was generated by the brewing industry in Finland. The majority of this (63%) was VAT and excise taxes.

Red Bull is an Austrian company that has been selling energy drinks since 1987. Red Bull was launched on the Finnish market in 1998. In 2013, a total of over 5.3 billion cans were sold in 166 countries. Energy drinks are refreshing, revitalising beverages for adults.
