Joik is one of Europe’s oldest song traditions. Passed down from generation to generation, the chanting song of the Sami people has survived through centuries. Young Sami artists are currently bringing new life to this tradition by mixing ancient sounds with modern genres.
Sagastad, a brand-new knowledge center focusing on the Viking Age opens in Nordfjordeid, Norway, on the 10th May 2019. With one of the country’s richest, largest and most spectacular Viking graves in the center of the town, Nordfjordeid is the obvious location for Sagastad.
2017 marks the 150th anniversary of Norway’s most famous play – Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. To celebrate the anniversary, four young Norwegian artists were invited to make their own versions of the original compositions Edvard Grieg wrote for the play. The results are four contemporary takes on “Morning Mood”, “In the Hall of the Mountain King” and “Anitra’s Dance”.

For the first time this August, Mimi Goes Glamping kicks off. A cooperation between Bergen National Opera and Åmot Operafarm, the new festival combines music, outdoor activities like yoga and fly fishing, and locally produced gourmet food, all in scenic surroundings just outside Bergen.
In May, two of the world’s biggest names in the arts are coming together in Oslo. The joint exhibition MUNCH | VAN GOGH opens in Oslo 9th May, where it will be for three months before moving to Amsterdam.
