Nidec Corporation today announced that the company completed the acquisition of 90% ownership of Roboteq Inc., a U.S.-based designer of ultra-low voltage (ULV) drives, from its owners through Nidec Motor Corporation.
With a global market share of 85%, Nidec's HDD motors are one of the core products that have laid the foundation of the company group. Now, as "five big waves" are approaching, the company is poised to leverage the proprietary technology and know-how it has built up over the years in this field in order to catch the new waves and grow the company further.
OMRON Automotive Electronics has become part of the Nidec group under the new name Nidec Mobility. Moving forward, the company will work closely with Nidec’s automotive motor business unit to develop new modules and systems that combine the motors, pumps, gears, etc. of the Nidec group with the electronic control units, and other electronic components, of Nidec Mobility.
