La Vie en Rose - From Shocking Pink to Barbiecore

Is pink just for little girls? Maybe in the distant past. Fashionistas, trend experts and designers have long since discovered this colour: the fashion house Valentino set a new trend last year with the launch of a complete collection in ‘Shocking Pink’ – a colour that made fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli famous in the 1930s. The Pantone Color Institute has selected Viva Magenta, a powerful fuchsia, as the colour of the year for 2023 and the film “Barbie”, due for release in cinemas this summer, is also causing a sensation with ‘Barbiecore’, shining the spotlight on candy pink. Lots for little girls to celebrate!

Although bright pink and candy hues might not be everyone’s thing, we are now seeing a more understated take on the pink trend in interior design. Walls are being painted in powdery shades and pink accessories are adding colourful highlights. The selection of shades is absolutely endless and even in pastel variations, pink can be combined easily with almost all colours.

Pink highlights on the table

The Rose Garden tableware collection from Villeroy & Boch coordinates with shades such as simple white, but can also be combined with strong colours to create a striking look. The porcelain plates and cups are available in a single colour or with an opulent rose pattern. The like Grape glasses, which impress with their simple design and tinted grape colour, can be used to add little highlights without unnecessarily overpowering the table decoration.

Powder shades for the bathroom

Pink is often a perfect choice for the bathroom in particular. Because while many people would like more colour in their bathroom, powerful shades are often a source of apprehension. Delicate powder pink is a good compromise to try out the effect, for example, starting with just the washbasin. In the shade of Powder, the Artis BiColour washbasin offers an understated pink shade that is ideal to create a warm and personal atmosphere without any great risk. If you like the result, you can then choose a similar colour for the walls and tiles to create your very own pink cocoon.

Restful accessories throughout the entire home

Another advantage of pink shades? Their versatility. They coordinate with both modern and classic interior design styles and can be combined with almost all colour schemes. With a few simple changes and the right accessories, you can create a relaxing and cosy atmosphere throughout your entire home. Villeroy & Boch’s extensive range of homewares includes bathroom textiles in bright Coral, glass vases in delicate Rose or single-coloured and patterned cuddly blankets in Powder. Almost no other manufacturer offers such a wide selection to design stylish homes in every detail.
