Post Office Appoints New Chief Marketing Officer

The Post Office has today announced the appointment of Pete Markey as Chief Marketing Officer.

With over 19 years senior level experience Pete will be responsible for all above and below the line media as well as brand development, customer insight, digital marketing and social media. He will report to Martin George, Chief Commercial Officer, who joined the Post Office last year.

Pete joins from FTSE 100 company RSA where as Chief Marketing Officer he was responsible for marketing and brand across the Group. Prior to that, Pete was Marketing Director for MORE TH>N Insurance. He has also held roles at Onetel, the AA and British Gas.

Martin George said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Pete to the team. We are transforming the Post Office into a multi-channel, commercially viable retailer. Pete’s first class FTSE 100 experience will help develop our ambitious brand and marketing strategy to deliver these commercial objectives.”

About Pete Markey
Pete Markey is Chief Marketing Officer for RSA Group, a 300 year old, global insurance business with over 20m customers worldwide. He is responsible for brand and marketing globally and his role extends to brand, acquisition, customer and digital marketing. Pete was previously MORE TH>N Marketing Director for two years, and Head of Marketing prior to this.

Previously Pete has worked in Onetel, the AA and British Gas. He is an experienced Director, having worked across a range of disciplines including marketing, sales, e-business, operations and strategy.

Pete graduated from Southampton with a BA Hons in Corporate Communication and is a CIM Chartered Marketer. Pete has been awarded the DRUM, MI and Marketing Society Marketer of the Year awards. In 2009, he completed a 2 year MBA with Distinction at Ashridge Business School. In 2010, he was made a “Fellow” of the Marketing Society, and joined their Management Board. Pete has consistently appeared in Marketing Magazine’s annual “Power 100” feature as one of the leading marketers in his field.
