Post Office Announces Members Of Its New Advisory Council

- Representatives ranging from major business brands to customers and subpostmasters will help shape its future

The Advisory Council will play an important role in reflecting a cross-section of views, skills and experience from the diverse communities which make up 21st century Britain.

It will help the Post Office learn from those with an interest in the business, enabling it to innovate, support the transformation of the business and inspire a bright future for the Post Office.

  • Brian Scott, Unite Officer for the CMA sector of Unite

Paula Vennells, Chief Executive of the Post Office, said:

“This is an exciting time for the Post Office. We’re transforming our network through introducing new modern branches which are open for longer. We embrace our role as a commercial business with a powerful public purpose and take very seriously our commitment to the communities we serve.

“The Post Office Advisory Council will ensure we remain at the heart of communities by providing an innovative forum through which ideas can be shared and feedback sought. We are delighted that people with such a wide range of experience and insights have come forward to be part of the Council which will play a key role in helping to shape the future of the business.”

The Post Office sought members with a diverse range of interests, including customers, unions, charities and individuals or groups who could bring wide geographical, community, social and commercial perspectives to our work.

The Advisory Council is made up of 24 members to allow a broad mix of people and interests.

Members are appointed for a term of four years, non-renewable, with the first appointments mixed between 2, 3 and 4 years in order to maintain continuity and meetings will be held three times a year.

Farida Iqbal, who has been working at the Post Office for 18 years, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to influence from the inside. The Post Office is dedicated to giving the very best service to its customers and I am delighted to have a personal voice in its future.”
