Located in the midst of the inspiring Colour Selection exhibition at the Pop up my Bathroom trend platform in the Europa Hall (4.0), the lecture forum is an informative hotspot.
With its evolution into a lifestyle space, the bathroom is experiencing the return of colour as well. The colour transgressions of the 60s and 70s are forgotten – the main thing is to avoid boredom at all costs. Bathroom planners and the industry are responding to the desire for individually and boldly designed bathrooms with an ever growing variety of finishes and unusual arrangements.
When it comes to colour, the industry is awakening from the deep sleep it appeared to fall into following the Bahama Beige and Moss Green trauma of the 1970s. Now, with the advent of on-trend finishes in metallic colour variants, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the lifestyle cultivated in the rest of the interior is conquering the bathroom along with the desire for more cosiness.
We love spending time at home – and that includes the bathroom too. Its overall design is becoming increasingly cosy and welcoming – and revealing the growing influence of general interior design trends in the process. At the same time, new technical developments are a must-have in the bathroom too.

Pop up my Bathroom, an initiative of the German Sanitary Industry Association (Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. [VDS]) and Messe Frankfurt established in conjunction with the ISH, is an experimental platform for architects, bathroom planners, interior designers and journalists.
