NEW YEAR: NEW JOB – JYSK CHALLENGES STORES TO DELIVER A YEAR OF AMBITION

NEW YEAR: NEW JOB

– JYSK CHALLENGES BRADFORD-

TO DELIVER A YEAR OF AMBITION

Scandinavian-owned global furniture brand JYSK is urging Bradford talent thinking ‘New Year, new job’ to consider a fast-track career in retail that could take them to store manager within two years.

JYSK is breaking sales records in the UK and has expansion plans to match. UK store numbers reached 19 in 2019 with the next opening in Oldham in Spring and a target of 54 in the next four years – and the Scandi retailer has struck the right note with British shoppers.

The company is doing things differently too – right through to its approach to finding the right people – and is recruiting for Bradford.

UK Country Manager David Ashton said: “We’re inviting local people who believe they have the right personality, attituded and aptitude to introduce themselves to us. A short, informal video is great. While we’re interested in what they’re doing right now, or have done in the past, we don’t believe a work c.v. gives the full picture. If people have ‘the right stuff’ then we’ll train for the rest.

“Candidates should apply at careers.jysk.co.uk and upload a short CV. The next stage sees candidates receive two video questions to answer. That’s instead of a preliminary face to face interview. It speeds up the process and saves them having to come to us - and it can be done whenever and wherever they like! We are interested in employing local people; developing their skills and helping them achieve their ambitions.

“What we’re looking for is people who like people, love to help someone find what they’re looking for and really thrive on working as part of a great team – or would love to lead it.”

An average staff number for each JYSK store is around 10, so JYSK is planning to create at least 350 store-based jobs by 2024 – with other supporting roles coming online.

Anyone interested in finding out more should go to careers.jysk.co.uk.
