Thameslink and Great Northern shortlisted for National Transport Awards
Thameslink’s Mike Tyler, Revenue Control Officer based at St Albans, and Great Northern’s Hatfield station have been shortlisted for the National Transport awards. The awards celebrate the successes that have been achieved on national and local transport projects, as well as the individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty.
New band of officers policing Great Northern, Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express
Great Northern and Thameslink have beefed up their security at stations and on-board rail services by introducing a team of 22 rail enforcement officers (REOs) with almost as many Special Constables working across the entire Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) network that also includes Southern and Gatwick Express.
Southern “ready, willing and able” for fresh talks to end RMT dispute
GTR, owner of Southern Trains, has urged the RMT to call off their planned 2-day strike (planned for September 7 and 8) and get back round the table to find a solution to their “futile” industrial action.
GTR responds to RMT station staff strike
Responding to the RMT’s strike by Station staff on 7 September, Alex Foulds, GTR’s Passenger Services Director, said: “This is a cynical and deliberate stunt by the RMT to try and bring our trains to a standstill by co-ordinating strike action on two fronts on the same day to cause maximum disruption, delay and damage to our passengers’ everyday lives and the economy."
