Last week members of the Northaw and Cuffley Residents’ Association formally adopted Great Northern’s Cuffley railway station.

The group have been working with Martin Brown, Station Manager for Bowes Park to Watton at Stone to make the station their own by putting up a new noticeboard to promote community events in the area and exploring the possibility of creating new flowerbeds. There are also discussions under way with the local school to brighten the subway with childrens' artwork.

Martin said: "I'm really keen on seeing the stations in my area reflect their communities and for local people to feel like the station is truly theirs. I really welcome the efforts of the group to help make Cuffley their own and to show the uniqueness of the area for everyone travelling with us, whether they live in the area or are just visiting."

Andrea Allgood, chair of the association, added: "For many years, a number of members of our group have lived very close to the station and we've always found everyone involved with the train company to be very good neighbours to us.

“We welcome the opportunity to take our relationship that step further by working in partnership together. There is a lot going on in Cuffley and it is wonderful to have the chance to promote this further. We've taken on board the advice of Great Northern to start small but look forward to working together to do more in the future."
