11,000 transfers performed

Rush of business – especially in the offshore wind sector – gave an increased number of transfers in 2011 at ESVAGT: 11,000 in all.

The German and the Belgian sectors are relatively new waters to ESVAGT, but they are areas on the offshore map that are growing significantly – within ESVAGT as well.

This can be seen from the number of external transfers that in 2011 exceeded a total of 11,000 for the first time (set downs and pick ups) and with a considerable part of the transfers carried out in the offshore wind farms in the Belgian and the German sectors.

- The offshore wind market is very interesting to us, and the large amount of transfers carried out by ’Esvagt Supporter’ and other vessels both in the Belgian and the German sectors show that we have been able to expand our expertise to new fields within offshore, says Ib Hansen, Chartering Manager at ESVAGT.

Growing market

The offshore wind market is an investment area for several reasons. For one thing, there will be more wind farms and another they will be positioned further ashore. That makes the ESVAGT way of transferring people even more attractive.

- The further the farms are positioned from land the better for us. When it is a long way from the coast to the farm, it takes much too long time to transport people back and forth in the traditional way. That’s where our methods are more effective, says Ib Hansen
