Submissions Open for Develop:Brighton 2023 Indie Showcase Competition

Tuesday 18 April: The Develop:Brighton Indie Showcase competition returns in 2023 to find the industry’s hottest unsigned indie games, with submissions now open. Developers can submit their until 12 May 2023 at https://www.developconference.com/whats-on/indie-showcase.

Free to all indie game makers to enter, the Indie Showcase is a great opportunity for rising indie developers to showcase their latest games at Develop:Brighton 2023, taking place this summer at the Hilton Brighton Metropole from Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 July.

Submissions will be whittled down by a panel of industry experts to ten finalists, which will then bring their games to the Develop:Brighton expo on Wednesday 12 July and Thursday 13 July for media, developers, publishers and all delegates to play.

Two winners will be announced as part of the final session of the final day of the conference. The People’s Choice award will be decided by attendees voting on the show floor, with the Overall Winner voted on by a panel of judges.

Finalists will also receive a complimentary three-day pass to Develop:Brighton 2023, pre-event publicity and a profile on the Develop:Brighton website.

“Every year I’m blown away by the quality, ambition and creativity on show among the fantastic submissions we receive,” said Indie Showcase panel chair Alistair Aitcheson. “I’m excited to play them all, and to see all the delegates down in Brighton this July playing them as well.

“This year we're putting an extra focus on innovation and originality, to help the most exciting new ideas find the connections that will help them flourish. The Showcase really is an unbelievable opportunity to get unsigned games in front of press, publishers and other potential partners.”

Last year the Overall Winner was Paper Trail by Newfangled Games, and the People’s Choice prize was given to The Tale of Bistun by Black Cube Games.

Previous Indie Showcase finalists include WHAT THE GOLF? by Triband, That Dragon, Cancer by Numinous Games, You Suck at Parking by Happy Volcano, Sunless Sea by Failbetter Games and Heaven’s Vault by inkle.

“For indies, the toughest thing is getting recognised for the work you’re doing,” said inke narrative director and Develop:Brighton 2023 keynote speaker Jon Ingold. “The Indie Showcase is a great place to get noticed by the whole UK industry, and to meet your fellow developers."

The deadline for entries is 12 May 2023 and full entry details can be found here: https://www.developconference.com/whats-on/indie-showcase
