PlanetPlay Partners with Top Video Game Companies For Earth Day to Promote Climate Consciousness in Gaming

Wednesday 19 April - PlanetPlay, leading platform for integrating social and environmental impact into video games, has announced new studio partnerships with CM Games, Kuwala, and Ten Square Games for Earth Day 2023.

These collaborations aim to encourage video game players and companies to adopt more climate-conscious behaviour and contribute towards climate change solutions.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with these wonderful companies in time for Earth Day 2023,” said Rhea Loucas, CEO of PlanetPlay. “Together, we can harness the power of gaming to promote climate-conscious behaviour and make a real difference in the fight against climate change.”

CM Games’ partnership with PlanetPlay will see the developer introduce the first all-electric vehicle into hit mobile racing game Nitro Nation.

Proceeds raised via sales of the new in-game vehicle will be donated directly to the Hongera Clean Cookstove project in Kenya. This project supports the distribution of 150,000 efficient stoves to rural Kenyan families and will mitigate more than 1.7 million tons of CO2 over the project's lifetime.

Fishing game Fishing Clash, from developers Ten Square Games (TSG) will be promoting PlanetPlay in game to raise money for New Zealand-based NGO, Wai Wanaka. As part of the partnership, special in-game item bundles will be listed inside PlanetPlay's marketplace.

TSG have also announced PlanetPlay as their official sustainablility partner on the Apple App Store.

Finally, indie game studio Kuwala has partnered with PlanetPlay for the launch of its debut title Kutian & The Clock Gate. Designed specifically to promote mindfulness and climate-conscious behaviour in younger audiences, the game will help to educate and raise awareness of environmental issues in youth.

In addition to these partnerships, PlanetPlay will be launching version 3.0 of its platform on Earth Day. The latest platform incorporates feedback from both studios and players to offer a more dynamic gaming experience and greater levels of automation.

Additional studios with projects that will be listed on the marketplace include E-Line Media, Mythic Owl, WRKS Games, Orca Labs Games, Muse Games and Serious Brothers.
