The five-star carrier Qatar Airways, which was named the top airline in the world in 2017, is now launching a direct route to Doha, the capital of Qatar, from Göteborg Landvetter Airport, with five weekly departures. With Doha as a hub, leisure and business travellers in western Sweden will be able to smoothly continue on to the carrier’s 150 destinations in Asia and Africa.
Swedavia continues to work to ensure Swedish access, both within the country and to and from the rest of the world. During the first six months of 2018, 20.5 million passengers flew to or from the company’s airports, a one per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
Swedavia is selling the property at Göteborg Landvetter Airport on which a hotel is now under construction to Midstar Fastigheter AB. The hotel, which is expected to open in late 2020/early 2021, is located immediately adjacent to the airport terminal.
As of the winter timetable, Brussels Airlines will serve the Bromma Stockholm-Brussels route using the Airbus A319 aircraft type. The A319 is certified to meet the stringent noise level requirements at Bromma Stockholm Airport. Preparing itself for the winter season, Brussels Airlines will in the evening of Friday, July 6th, 2018 operate for the first time ever with an Airbus A319.
The number of passengers who flew to or from Swedavia’s ten airports in June 2018 was 3,922,000, which is on a par with the same period in 2017. The number of international passengers increased 2 per cent to 2,826,000, while the number of domestic passengers fell 7 per cent to 1,095,000.
This winter, Swedes will be able to fly non-stop to one more long-haul destination in Thailand. In late October, Norwegian will launch direct service to the popular holiday destination of Krabi with two weekly departures from Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
In mid-June, Swedavia’s operations at Visby Airport became entirely fossil-free. Following years of focused work, which includes electrification of its vehicles, a switch in fuels and implementation of efficiency measures, the airport has now secured its position as one of the most climate-smart in the world.

Air traffic between Stockholm and the US has increased nearly 80 per cent in the past four years. Now Norwegian Air Shuttle is launching non-stop service from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Orlando, Florida. Beginning in October, the new long-haul route will operate twice weekly.

Norwegian Air Shuttle will begin new non-stop service from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The carrier will fly three times a week from Stockholm Arlanda to Tallinn, Estonia. The route between the two capitals will be launched on October 30 this year.
