Since 2011, Swedavia has taken part in Pride festivals across Sweden in order to show its support for the equal rights and value of all people. Swedavia is now expanding its collaboration with the Stockholm Pride organisation and will be a bronze partner for a three-year period.
The number of passengers who flew to or from Swedavia’s ten airports in March 2018 totalled 3,470,000, which is an increase of about 3 per cent compared to the same period in 2017. International passenger volume was up 9 per cent to 2,259,000, while domestic passenger volume fell 6 per cent to 1,210,000.
The number of passengers who flew to or from Swedavia’s ten airports in February 2018 was 2,895,000, which is an increase of about 1 per cent compared to the same period last year. The number of international passengers rose 4 per cent to 1,841,000, while the number of domestic passengers fell 3 per cent to 1,054,000.
The number of long-haul flights from Stockholm Arlanda Airport continues to grow as China Eastern launches the first direct route between Stockholm and Shanghai on June 16 this summer. There is high demand for non-stop service to and from China, both among business and leisure travellers. The route will make it easier to continue on to other destinations in Asia from China Eastern’s Shanghai hub.
More than 2,900,000 passengers flew to or from Swedavia’s airports in January 2018, which is a 2 per cent increase compared to the same month in 2017. International passenger volume was up more than 3 per cent to over 1,900,000 passengers. Domestic passenger volume was essentially on the same level as in 2017, at 1,006,000 passengers.
It currently takes five to ten years for a university graduate recently arrived in Sweden to get a job in the country. The internship programme Jobbsprånget, run by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, has developed in a short time into a much faster means for this group to find a position in the labour market. Swedavia participates actively in this programme.
Blue Air is now starting the new direct route to Turin from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The service is operated twice a week until October 2018. It will be smooth travel for passengers going to Italian ski resorts such as Cervinia, Champoluc and Sestriere as well as the French resorts of Serre Chevalier and La Grave.
This week, Stockholm Arlanda Airport reached 26,000,000 passengers, which is the new record at the airport. This is an increase of 8 percent, 1.9 million passengers, compared to the same period in 2016. The record was noted by Chief of Passenger Services Anna Ericsson who met the record passenger before the departure at Arlanda.
Swedavia and the Nordic Investment Bank have signed a loan agreement of SEK 2 billion (EUR 201 million) for the construction of a new pier at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Peder Grunditz is to become the new Airport Director at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Mr Grunditz has worked most recently as Airport Director at Bromma Stockholm Airport and was also Director of Swedavia’s Regional Airports unit. He will assume the position on March 1, 2018.
Swedavia is selling the property now under construction at Stockholm Arlanda Airport that will be a major hotel at the airport. The hotel, to be completed in late 2019, is located immediately adjacent to Sky City. It will comprise 503 rooms as well as bars and restaurants spread over 20,000 square metres and 14 storeys, making it the largest airport hotel in the Nordic countries.
In November, 3,300,000 passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s ten airports in Sweden – a three per cent increase compared to November 2016. International traffic was up four per cent to 2,000,000 passengers. Domestic traffic was up one per cent compared to the same period last year to 1,260,000 passengers.
