Steamery launches sewing kit – continues to inspire people to make their clothes last longer

The Scandinavian brand Steamery expands their clothing care offer, by entering the world of mending. The first addition within this field is a sewing kit with carefully selected sewing tools. Steamery aims to offer an ecosystem of clothing care products and inspire people to revitalize the tradition of repairing clothes, in order to make them last longer.

Swedish clothing care brand Steamery, wants to highlight the importance of slowing down in today’s fast-fashion pace, and taking care of what you already own. They want to start a movement, inspire to a slow fashion mindset and educate people on how to easily repair their clothes instead of throwing them away. Therefore, Steamery is expanding their range of clothing care products launching a sewing kit, a first exciting addition within mending.

The sewing kit comes in a roll-up case inspired by traditional Japanese knife rolls and artists’ paint brush cases. The kit has all sewing tools needed to easily patch a hole, mend a seam or fix a hem. Each tool is carefully selected based on recommendations from professional tailors. It contains threads, scissors, a seam ripper, a fabric pen, needles, sewing pins, safety pins, a metal thimble, measuring-tape, quick patches, buttons and a needle threader.

– Just two generations ago, everyone knew how to take care of their clothes. Today, clothing care is a forgotten craft. However, we have noticed an increased curiosity for mending and sewing. Therefore, we want to inspire our generation to revitalize and modernize that tradition. Instead of throwing away clothes that got a hole or a loose button, we want people to feel inspired to repair their garments to make them last longer. It’s about taking care of what you already own, fixing what’s broken and rejecting the idea that newer is always better, says Frej Lewenhaupt, co-founder and CEO at Steamery.

The sewing kit comes with a QR-code connected to a mending guide with various tips and tricks on how to repair clothes and all the information needed to start the journey of becoming a mending expert. The price for the sewing kit is 25 € and it is available online at steamerystockholm.com and found in stores by the end of January 2022.
