Jebsen & Jessen Technology Malaysia Starts Local Assembly

Jebsen & Jessen Technology Malaysia (JJTM) marked a new milestone by completing the local assembly and delivery of two 3.5 MW DME 700 NG Metallurgica Backpressure Steam Turbines for JC Chang Pte Ltd. The two steam turbines will serve as cogeneration plant for the client’s palm oil mill expansion operations, meeting both the electricity and process steam demands. The Heat & Power team of JJTM designed, fabricated and assembled major parts of the system at their workshop and was able to provide a cost effective solution to the client.

Both, the singlestage CE Series and multistage DME series, are low reaction types designed for high efficiency. Unlike conventional small industrial turbines, these skid-based units integrate the steam turbine, gearbox and complete oil system on a common baseplate. The capacity of the CE and DME series goes up to four MW, their applications include power generation, cogeneration and mechanical drive such as pump, compressor, shredder, miller and cutter for the oil & gas, petrochemical, palm oil, sugar, wood and agricultural based industries.

In the course of the project, JJTM procured the latest 3D design applications and programmable logic controller (PLC) programming solutions. The PLC solutions provide innovative remote monitoring and diagnostic capabilities and enable the client to monitor the cogeneration plant from off-site locations. This proactive monitoring system is linked to JJTM’s local service centre to assist the client and to reduce unplanned downtime and maintenance cost.

“This pioneer project is a highlight on our journey to develop the prospect of locally assembled, small industrial steam turbines to become even more competitive in the ASEAN market,” comments General Manager Jebsen & Jessen Technology Heat & Power Division Mr Steve Ng.
