Stockholm International Film Festival presents Zalando Rising Star winner Edvin Ryding at Festival de Cannes 2022

The promising young actor, Edvin Ryding was the recipient of the Zalando Rising Star Award previously this fall at Stockholm International Film Festival 2021 and will now attend the prestigious Festival de Cannes.

Edvin Ryding, born in 2003, rose to worldwide fame with his portrayal of Wilhelm in the popular Netflix original series “Young Royals”. The series has since its release gathered fans all over the world and Ryding was recently named as one of the young talents on the Forbes 30 under 30 – Europe list.

Zalando Rising Star is an award at Stockholm International Film Festival and highlights young acting talents who has made remarkable achievements in film. The aim of the award is to promote actors and actresses early on in their careers, with previous winners being Alicia Vikander, Gustav Lindh and Alba August to name a few. As part of the award, the winner is presented at Festival de Cannes each year.

For such a small country, Sweden can be proud to have nurtured so many talented actresses and actors, like Edvin Ryding. Our ambition is to promote Ryding as a rising star within the industry, both in Sweden and internationally, says Git Scheynius, Stockholm Film Festival.

Ryding made his debut in the industry at six years old in the TV-show “Mannen under trappan” in 2009, which was followed by roles in the series “Gåsmamman”, “Fröken Frimans krig” and “Älska mig”, as well as numerous voice acting roles.

I feel very honoured and grateful to be able to attend Festival de Cannes this year. Being surrounded by talented and hardworking individuals is inspiring, and I feel very excited to see what Cannes has to offer, says Edvin Ryding about his attendance.

Friday, May 21, 01:00 – 03:00 PM CEST ,Ryding will be introduced and interviewed at the Swedish Film Institute´s international press conference. The press conference will be in English and held at Scandinavian House, 11 Square Mérimée.

Edvin Ryding will be attending Festival in Cannes, 19 - 23 of May.
