Kenneth Branagh to receive the Stockholm Achievement Award 2021

The five-time Oscars nominated actor Kenneth Branagh receives the Stockholm Achievement Award 2021 at the Stockholm International Film Festival. He will accept the Bronze Horse at the Nordic premiere of Belfast at the Skandia Theatre at 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 20.

This year’s Stockholm Achievement Award is presented to Kenneth Branagh with the following motivation:
This year's Stockholm Achievement Award is given to a boundlessly creative multi-talent who has made an astonishing journey from Northern Ireland to five Oscar nominations as an actor and director. His passion for Shakespeare took Branagh from small theatre stages, into the international spotlight with works such as "Henry V" and "Much Ado about Nothing". With the moving portrait of the streets of his childhood in "Belfast", Branagh shows off his masterful sensibilities as a world-class storyteller. It is a great honor to present Stockholm Achievement Award 2021 to Kenneth Branagh.

Belfast centers a young boy's childhood amid the tumult of Belfast in the late 60s and is Branagh’s most personal film to date. The already Academy Award-predicted film will be the closing film of the Stockholm Film Festival.

The Nordic premiere of Belfast by Kenneth Branagh takes place at the Skandia Theatre at 6.00 pm on Saturday, November 20. Kenneth Branagh will accept the Bronze Horse following the screening and will participate in a Face2Face conversation in Stockholm.

Stockholm Achievement Award is presented to an individual in honor and acknowledgment of their contribution to the world of film. Previous recipients of the award are, among others, Uma Thurman, Viggo Mortensen, Willem Dafoe and Ellen Burstyn. The prestigious prize, the 7.3-kilogram Bronshästen (Bronze Horse) – the world's heaviest film prize – is a paraphrase of the Swedish Dalecarlian horse and was created by Swedish designer Fredrik Swärd
