Technology and networks have enabled people to work outside their offices and more and more documents are stored digitally to gain efficiency. Possio focuses on helping organizations take advantage of these two fundamental developments.

"We invented the mobile fax machine almost 20 years ago and with over 55.000 mobile fax machines sold in more than 40 countries we remain market leaders in this niche", says Ralf Wittig, head of product development at Possio. "During these years we have been focusing on the mobility part of the problem and used plain fax to send and receive paper documents. But our vision is to enable remote scanning of paper documents right into relevant business systems and remote printing of documents from these systems to allow organizations to take maximum advantage of both the digital revolution and the mobility trend", continues Mr Wittig.

What is the problem? A lot of documents are created at offices thus easy to get in and out from IT systems. But as soon as paper documents are created or needed elsewhere we get into problems. A dangerous goods declaration needs to be left behind when passing a border. A signed delivery note rapidly needs to get into the invoicing system. After final negotiations at a hotel, the final agreement needs to be signed in two copies. Somewhere between the digital storage and the person who needs the document it will have to be converted from bits to atoms, from digital to paper. In its digital form it costs nothing to store, modify or send. As soon as it is on paper it is expensive and cumbersome to deal with. The same is true when a person on the road holds a piece of paper and needs to get it into the digital storage. Today, most companies collect documents by snail mail, courier, fax or manually. The documents are then scanned into digital storage and used by relevant systems. Needless to say this is a slow, inefficient and expensive process.

At Possio we have been working hard to realize our vision for quite some time and now we have filed for patent protection of our innovations. "Our current mobile fax machine, GRETA GSM Fax & Printer was developed with our vision in mind and today we are announcing our first end to end solution for remote scan and print which is using GRETA as the terminal", says Mr Wittig. "With this first solution our customers can start the journey together with Possio towards reliable and easy-to-use remote scan and print, enabling more efficient document management", concludes Mr Wittig.

"Formal introduction of the first version of our both global and wireless remote scan and print solution will happen after summer", says Per Östlund, VP Sales at Possio. "But we will be working on a handful of pilot projects with customers and partners over the summer to create some reference cases and solve some urgent customer issues", continues Mr Östlund.

Today Possio also introduces "Documents on the Road" - it's free newsletter about reliable and easy-to-use remote scan and print, which can be subscribed at www.possio.com/newsletter.
