New double-degree Master Programme

Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) has signed a contract with the Faculty of Economics at Moscow State University (MSU) for a new double-degree Master of Science in International Business Development.

The graduates from this master programme will be highly interesting for employers worldwide, but also well prepared to start up new venture activities. The new programme will be able to draw synergies from the long-standing academic traditions of the leading Russian university and the entrepreneurial spirit of Jönköping International Business School.

Faculty at JIBS and MSU will teach the new master programme jointly. The first year, students will study at MSU with JIBS faculty visiting, and the second year will be spent at JIBS. The programme aims at providing students with academic knowledge and a broad range of skills. It will include courses in intercultural communication and leadership, new venture development and management, as well as comprehensive courses in marketing, economics and accounting/finance.

One of the primary goals of the programme will be to increase the graduates’ employability. Efforts will be made to familiarize students with the context and practices of large companies as well as SMEs, and the programme will function in close connection with the business community in both Sweden and Russia. Representatives of the business community can be invited as guest lecturers and provide case studies and other forms of training for the students.

Another important goal is to increase students’ motivation for new venture activities such as corporate entrepreneurship, start-ups and knowledge-intensive university spin-offs.

Hopefully this project will also help “bridging the gap” between Swedish and Russian companies, i.e. providing meeting arenas and facilitating mutual cooperation between businesses.
