The third finalist is Reshma Kosaraju, a 15 year-old from Saratoga, California, USA. In her project, AI against forest fires, Reshma uses AI technology to predict which areas can be affected by forest fires. The jury sees a young entrepreneur with solid research who is attempting to tackle a highly relevant subject such as forest fires, and find modern solutions.

Andra finalisten att presenteras är Fridays for Future Amazonia som med-grundades av 16 åriga Fernanda Barros och består av en grupp unga klimataktivister som kämpar för klimat- och social rättvisa i Amazonas, Brasilien.

Australia, the USA, Brazil and Kenya are the countries from which this year’s finalists all come. We are now presenting the five finalists and their respective projects. Of these five, one will be the final winner, which will be announced on November 8th.

Recently, the jury of the Children’s Climate Prize met to select finalists from the record number of nominations that came in this year. The jury meeting was in hybrid form with some jury members participating physically and others digitally to deliberate this year’s finalists. During the month of September, the finalists will be announced in the Children’s Climate Prize communication channels.
I dagarna har Juryn för Children’s Climate Prize sammanträtt för att utse finalisterna bland årets rekordmånga nomineringar. Jurymötet blev en hybrid, där jurymedlemmarna deltog både fysiskt och digitalt för att överlägga om årets finalister. Från september till oktober kommer finalisterna löpande att tillkännages i Children’s Climate Prize kommunikationskanaler.
Den 4 juni stängde årets nomineringsperiod som varit öppen sedan 10 mars. Med inkomna bidrag från samtliga världsdelar (utom Antarktis), tangerades fjolårets rekord med nästan det dubbla antalet nomineringar. I år finns 32 länder representerade när juryn ska utse finalister och vinnare av Children’s Climate Prize 2021.
On June 4, this year’s nomination period, which was open since March 10, closed. With contributions received from all parts of the world (except Antarctica), last year’s nomination record was close to being doubled! This year there are 32 countries from which the jury will select finalists and winners of the 2021 Children’s Climate Prize.
