  • Rail growth in northern Sweden drives record volumes at the Port of Gothenburg

    Rail freight traffic between northern Sweden and the Port of Gothenburg continues to grow. Two rail terminals in the far north of Sweden, in the region of Norrbotten, are key drivers behind the volume increase that made 2025 the best year ever for container transport between the Port of Gothenburg and inland rail terminals across northern Sweden.

    The Port of Gothenburg container terminal operator, APM Terminals, has launched a rail freight shuttle between Helsingborg and the Port of Gothenburg. An initiative that makes the port an integrated part of the Helsingborg region’s logistics chain.

    The Gothenburg region has once again been named the Nordic region’s best logistics location by Swedish industry publication Dagens Logistik. In its motivation, the magazine highlights the Port of Gothenburg as the hub for international imports and exports and a decisive factor behind the region’s strong position as a logistics center.

  • Wallenius Wilhelmsen begins operations of Port of Gothenburg terminal

    Today, Wallenius Wilhelmsen starts operating the Port of Gothenburg car terminal – now named “Gothenburg International Auto & RoRo Terminal” (GIART). With the terminal, the company aims to develop a regional hub and enhance its logistics network as well as the port’s capacity to deliver efficient, integrated logistics solutions.

  • HYDS to build hydrogen electrolyser in the Port of Gothenburg

    The Norwegian hydrogen company Hydrogen Solutions AS (HYDS) plans to build a hydrogen electrolyser and thereby establish production of green hydrogen at the Port of Gothenburg. The investment strengthens the port’s role as a hub for fossil-free fuels and enables the transition of several transport modes in and around the port. Hydrogen production is planned to be operational by 2029.

  • Port of Gothenburg and Castellum to build new logistics building for Vink Esså Plast Group at Halvorsäng

    The Port of Gothenburg and Castellum are continuing the development of the expanding logistics area Halvorsäng in Gothenburg and are now constructing a new building of 8,667 sqm, half of which will be leased by plastics company Vink Esså Plast Group AB. The project is carried out within the framework of the joint company through which the parties are developing Halvorsäng.
