The plastic recycling company Quantafuel and resource management company Geminor have entered into a cooperation for the supply and treatment of up to 30,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually. The sourced plastic waste will be recycled at Quantafuel’s mechanical and chemical recycling plant in Kristiansund, Norway.

Today, Quantafuel announces Proof of Concept (PoC) for its Skive chemical recycling plant after more than seven days of continuous operation at a level corresponding to an annual capacity of 16,000 tonnes of plastic waste infeed. “This represents a major milestone for chemical recycling, Quantafuel and our future growth,” says Quantafuel’s CEO Lars Rosenløv.

Quantafuel has completed the repair work for the first two lines, and the plant is gradually returning into production. Both lines have been tested in production and have converted plastics at high load after the repair work.
“With both burner chambers now repaired and installed, we continue our aim for higher uptime and capacity,” says Quantafuel’s CEO Lars Rosenløv.
Today, Quantafuel released its fourth quarter report. The past few months have been characterised by the developments at the Skive plant; from the successful turnaround at the end of the year, followed by stable production in January, and the unplanned shutdown in February. Today, we can announce that we expect to have both lines back in production by mid-March.

With reference to the notice on 6th of February regarding the temporary shutdown of Skive production, our inspection has revealed damage on the steel cone connecting the burner chamber with the flue gas heating box of the reactor. We have now initiated repair work and target to be back in production within mid-March.
