IVECO Daily takes Light Truck of the Year in 2021 Van Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards

Against strong competition in the 3.5-7.5t segment, Van Fleet World award the IVECO Daily their 2021 Light Truck of the Year title.

Adding another string to its bow, the IVECO Daily demonstrates its unmatched flexibility within the 3.5 to 7.5 tonne GVW sector, receiving the title of Van Fleet World’s Light Truck of the Year 2021.

Part of the annual Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards, the event celebrates excellence in the fleet sector and is judged by the publication’s panel of experts. This is the second time IVECO Daily has taken the win for this category having first been honoured in 2019.

The 3,500kg GVW to 7.500kg GVW is a small but significant sector of the market with no shortage of competition. Daily offers the broadest weight range in the sector, a choice of diesel or natural gas power, manual or automatic transmission, as well as an array of body sizes and conversion options,” commented Van Fleet World Editor, John Kendall. “It is one of the most flexible vehicles in its class. Revised in 2019, Daily is now available with new driver assistance systems and a range of connectivity options. At the end of last year, IVECO re-launched its Daily Driveaway conversions programme and will introduce new additions to the programme throughout 2021.”

Thomas Hilse, IVECO Brand President, stated: “We are very proud that our Daily has been recognised with this award for the second time. It is a uniquely versatile vehicle that offers a superior driving experience. Its advanced connectivity unlocks a world of highly personalised services designed to help fleet owners and managers to operate their business efficiently, sustainably and profitably. It truly is a complete transport solution, capable of meeting the specific requirements of every fleet owner”.

The IVECO Daily offers the most comprehensive range on the market, stretching from the usual 3.5t GVW to light truck rivalling 7.2t GVW. Available in panel and two-row crew van, chassis, crew cab and chassis cowl with rear wheel drive and the all-conquering 4x4, there is a vehicle to suit just about any mission. Alongside a variety of wheelbase, the panel van reaches from 7.3m3 to a cavernous, class-leading 19.6m3.

Built upon a tough ladder frame chassis, Daily can take an up to 4.9 tonne payload and a massive range of bodies while retaining a car-like driving position with maximum visibility. Available with a 6-speed manual and smooth 8-speed HI-MATIC automatic, Daily can be fitted with a variety of PTO options and provides power via an efficient range of engines. The diesel 2.3-litre F1A offers 136 or 156hp, with the 3-litre F1C giving 180 and 210hp. A Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engine provides a diesel rivalling 136hp giving urban mission-friendly power without compromise.

Updated in 2019, Daily gained a refreshed front-end design featuring an all-new honeycomb grille, 3-piece bumper and optional full LED headlights. Internally a new, smaller steering wheel and high-quality dashboard can be combined with a repetitive movement-eliminating electromechanical parking brake and a new 7” HI-CONNECT infotainment system. Offering DAB radio, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto functionality, a native navigation system adds time-saving TomTom LIVE traffic updates and can plan routes in accordance with the vehicles size and weight restrictions.

A complete transport solution, ready for any mission, the IVECO Daily has been pushing the boundaries of functionality for 40 years. IVECO’s truck culture runs throughout the line-up, with Daily supported by the same responsive Assistance Non-stop 24/7 road-side support service and commercial dealer network as its heavy trucks. Daily can also take advantage of comprehensive, smart Repair & Maintenance packages and a connection to the IVECO control centre. Behind the scenes, a vehicle’s performance can be monitored to suggest changes to driving styles, forewarn of upcoming servicing requirements and even take advantage of over-the-air software update to reduce downtime and boost the Total Cost of Ownership.
