UNECE and the City of Helsingborg organize H22 +50 Session and Dialogue of Eminent Experts on smart, sustainable, and inclusive cities at H22 City Expo

Cities have the power to act and push to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. This is the message being communicated when UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe), in collaboration with the City of Helsingborg, invites cities around the world to the H22 +50 Session in Helsingborg during H22 City Expo, 30 May - 3 July.

The City of Helsingborg, Sweden, is a finalist in the European Green Capital Award 2023. The City of Helsingborg is one-step closer to becoming the European Green Capital in 2023. Helsingborg’s most prominent successes are linked to how the city has tackled environmental challenges associated with air, water, and noise pollution, waste management, energy efficiency, and climate change mitigation.

Sweden’s second largest container port, the Port of Helsingborg, tests new electric road system to cut emissions and explore fossil-free transports

The Port of Helsingborg in Sweden will test a new electric road concept from Swedish company Elonroad. The system charges all types of electric vehicles from a power strip in the road, whether they are parked or on the move. The goal is to cut emissions and explore fossil-free transport solutions. The domestic transport sector accounts for about one third of Sweden's greenhouse gas emissions.

The MIT Senseable City Lab and Swedish city Helsingborg collaborate on the Future of Public Safety in Cities

​The MIT Senseable City Lab and the City of Helsingborg, Sweden, will together develop a research agenda centered on the "Future of Public Safety in Cities". Social media data and public safety data will be analyzed to understand various events that concern notions of safety and public perception of the issue. The results will be showcased at the H22 City Expo in Helsingborg, 2022.

Swedish city Helsingborg and IKEA announce groundbreaking partnership to create the sustainable city of the future

​Named one of Europe’s most innovative cities in 2020, the City of Helsingborg, Sweden, joins forces with Swedish furniture giant IKEA to address global challenges in the co-creation of a sustainable city. The collaboration marks the first time IKEA has ever collaborated with an entire city over the course of several years and will culminate in the summer of 2022 at H22 City Expo, 30 May–3 July.
