Ukraine: Building Resilience and Protecting Development Gains During Times of War Facebook LinkedIn Twitter

Dato 17 Januar 2023

Sted UN City, Copenhagen

January 17, 2023, UN City Copenhagen: The war in Ukraine has caused a tremendous loss of life and livelihoods, putting stress on the economy, and forcing millions of people to flee their homes, with spill-over effects on neighboring countries, and not least Moldova. The Government of Ukraine estimates cost of damages of at least US$700 billion over the next ten years as buildings, roads, bridges, hospitals, and schools have been destroyed.

The "Building Resilience and Protecting Development Gains During Times of War" stressed the critical need to focus on the long-term rebuilding of Ukraine as we support immediate needs and recovery.

#BuildForwardBetter presents opportunities to push forward on the green transition, strengthen government crisis response, provision of public service delivery and inclusive participation.

Big thank you to Lotte Machon, State Secretary for Development Policy, Ivana Živković, UNDP Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, Mykhailo Vydoinyk, Ambassador of Ukraine to Denmark, Henrik Nordentoft, UNHCR’s Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries, Charlotte Slente, Secretary General of Danish Refugee Council, Christophorus Politis, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Ukraine, Torben Huss, Executive Director at Investment Fund for Developing Countries and Dima Al-Khatib, Resident Representative, UNDP Republic of Moldova for your excellent participation.
