A pilot test of a brand new concept is currently in progress, with some of Dalarna's accommodation facilities being certified as Outdoor Qualified by Visit Dalarna. “As a certified Outdoor Qualified accommodation facility, we can create conditions to attract completely new target groups and offer more incentives for the visitor to travel,” says Andreas Hermansson, Outdoor business developer.

Vasaloppet, the ski race between Sälen and Mora, is the world’s biggest long-distance ski race. In 2022, Vasaloppet will be 100 years old and celebrated with a Jubileumsvasa (Jubilee Vasaloppet), a race in tribute to the pioneers that put the first race together in 1922 with 139 participants. The Dala horse became world-famous at the 1939 New York World’s Fair and has been a Swedish icon ever since. The wooden horse can be bought everywhere in Sweden, but it has its roots in the village of Nusnäs outside of Mora in Dalarna. The Dala horse is hand-carved and then hand-painted in the traditional folk art style Dalarna is known for, called ‘kurbits’.
