New report from TMF during furniture fair: Swedes prepared to pay more for furniture manufactured under fair conditions, while quality and design are the most important factors when we buy furniture

According to a survey performed by Novus on behalf of the Swedish Federation of Wood and Furniture Industry (TMF), six out of ten Swedes are prepared to pay more for furniture that is manufactured under fair working conditions. And a large majority put quality and design at the top of the list of important factors when buying furniture.

Snow-capped mountains set the mood in Nendo’s installation at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

For the tenth year running, a celebrated international designer is creating a lounge at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.This year Mr. Oki Sato, Chief Designer and founder of Nendo, has produced an installation that creates the illusion of snow-capped mountain peaks soaring into the sky.This is an instance of the method being as central to the creative process as the visual effect.

Unprecedented international interest

Overseas interest in Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, which ended at the weekend, continues to grow. This year, one in four trade visitors was from overseas and the number of foreign visitors was up 13 % compared with 2011. The exhibition received a total of 38,814 visitors, which is 392 more than last year.

Largest meeting place ever for Nordic design

Last weekend saw the end of the 60th Stockholm Furniture Fair and Northern Light Fair at Stockholmsmässan. Arik Levy – focusing on people

Arik Levy, this year’s Guest of Honor, has been called both a scientist and a poet. He will be creating a relaxing lounge that encourages human contact in the Stockholmsmässan entrance hall. This is the eighth time that Stockholm Furniture Fair and Northern Light Fair have invited a well-known international designer to create a lounge space.
