Måns Svensson appointed as new President of Jönköping University

The Foundation Governing Board has decided to appoint Professor Måns Svensson as new President of Jönköping University starting 1 April 2024. Professor Svensson has previously worked as Dean of the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences at Halmstad University.

Yoga can slow down dementia

A new study shows that yoga can be used to slow down cognitive impairment and dementia in adults aged 55 and over. The results of the study are clear and show that yoga has a greater positive impact on cognitive ability than strength and conditioning training. The study was conducted at the School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University in collaboration with Region Jönköping County.

Jönköping University to grow with new centre for dental care

On 12 January, Jönköping University’s property company HÖFAB will submit planning documents prior to a decision on consultation to the city planning committee in Jönköping municipality. Jönköping University appoints four new honorary doctors

The President of Jönköping University has announced the appointment of four new honorary doctors. Those to be appointed are Professor Luis Gomez-Mejia, Associate Professor Sue Waite, Professor Trish Greenhalgh and Per Jansson, owner and CEO of Comptech AB. The conferment of this year’s honorary doctors will take place on 25 September 2021 at Jönköping University’s academic ceremony.

Jönköping University Enterprise (JUE) and North Park University (NPU), Chicago, USA, have entered into a collaboration agreement regarding Pathway Programmes. JUE will provide Pathway Programmes at Campus Gränna for prospective NPU students. Students will receive a conditional offer to NPU and upon successful completion of the programme, they will be admitted into a pre-selected programme at NPU.

Deficiencies in healthcare a contributing factor to suicide

A new study from researchers at the School of Health and Welfare, Jönköping University and Lund University have investigated suicide cases reported to the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Inspektionen för vård och omsorg) in 2015. The results show that healthcare deficiencies have contributed to these deaths by suicide in 55% of cases.

Oct 12, Jönköping University's Academic Ceremony was held with the inauguration of full professors and the conferment of PhDs at the culture hall, Spira. It was a stately and ceremonial event with nearly 400 guests, dressed in ball gowns and formal attire, speeches and live music. During the ceremony, four new professors was inaugurated, three honorary doctors and 29 new doctors were honored.
