Chr. Hansen gathers wine experts from 11 countries

Some of the world’s most outstanding wine production specialists are gathered to update their knowledge at Chr. Hansen. The global company supplies ingredients for wine producers all over the world.

One wouldn’t think so but as a matter of fact it is a DK based global company that helps wine producers throughout the world manufacture good and tasty wine, which is also safe for the consumers to drink.

Chr. Hansen supplies ingredients for a rich variety of food and beverages and the company helps wineries all over the globe to understand the implications of various microflora in winemaking, and highlights the benefits that can be achieved by using high quality starter cultures for direct inoculation.

In mid February Chr. Hansen is gathering its experts and distributors from 11 countries in order to exchange knowledge and experience.

Better taste, faster production and impressive return on investment

”The wine producer can achieve significant advantages in terms of taste and production time (costs) by using starter cultures for direct inoculation. The use of culture allows you to control the fermentation process that transforms the tart-tasting malic acid into the more soft and round lactic acid, resulting in better taste and shorter fermentation time,” explains Laurent Hubert, Marketing Director of Chr. Hansen’s global wine activities.

”In that way you can counter the problems involved with an uncontrolled fermentation process, which is often unpredictable, risky and time-consuming,” he says.

Knowledge sharing and new products

Laurent Hubert has invited his colleagues and business partners to Denmark to share knowledge and be inspired by each other.

”We have a strong team of highly skilled people, working and living in very different environments, who are on their own out there at the wineries. It is important to gather them to identify best practise and exchange ideas for new products,” he says.

Other elements in the seminar are of course wine tasting sessions and a visit to Chr. Hansen’s production plant for bacterial cultures, which is the world’s largest of its kind.
Only last summer the company launched a new range of FroZenTM cultures that can reduce the malolactic fermentation time by as much as 40% resulting in healthier cash flow for wineries.
